The Honourable Jearlean John is a bold and visionary leader with over 25 years of proven excellence in both public and private sector leadership. Throughout her distinguished career, she has built a legacy of results-driven management, transparent governance, and people-centered development.

She previously served in the Cabinet as Minister of Tourism and Tobago Affairs and Minister of Transport, where she played a pivotal role in advancing national infrastructure and expanding the tourism sector. Her leadership in these ministries helped lay the foundation for long-term growth and modernization.

Jearlean is especially well-known for her transformative tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), where she spearheaded major housing delivery projects across Trinidad and Tobago, while implementing systems that improved efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Prior to this, she served as the Managing Director of the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, overseeing critical upgrades to maritime infrastructure and streamlining operations to support national trade and logistics.

Her broad professional experience also includes senior roles in finance, operations, and public policy. She holds designations as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Professional Accountant, and Certified Management Accountant, credentials that reflect her deep expertise in financial oversight and strategic planning. These skills have consistently informed her approach to policy-making, both in Parliament and within state agencies.

As a Senator and Deputy Political Leader of the United National Congress since 2017, Jearlean has been a leading voice for good governance, equity, and national development. Her advocacy in the Senate has focused on infrastructure reform, gender equity, social investment, and fiscal accountability.

In 2025, following the UNC's general election victory, Jearlean John was appointed Minister of Works and Infrastructure. In this role, she is leading the charge to revitalize the nation’s roadways, bridges, drainage systems, and public facilities, prioritizing sustainable development, modern engineering standards, and community resilience.

Today, as the Member of Parliament for Couva North, she brings her extensive knowledge, unshakeable courage, and people-first vision to uplift families, improve infrastructure, and deliver meaningful, lasting change to communities across the constituency and the country.
